Panda Nursery will be hosting an Ultimate Quiz Night to raise funds on 18 May, from 7:30pm for an 8pm start. The event will be hosted by one of the UK’s most prolific professional quizmasters – who also happens to be a Panda dad! This weekend, Saturday May 5th, the Limpsfield Community Orchard is hosting its annual blossom viewing – from 10.30 to 12.00 – with coffee/tea and apple cake as usual! Everyone is invited. It’s a lovely thing to do with all the family.
On the recent warm weekend, I went to meet the dedicated team running the orchard. Spring has definitely sprung this week and thoughts turn to our gardens and this year’s Britain in Bloom. As ever, our entry into this national competition run by the Royal Horticultural Society is expertly handled by Limpsfield In Bloom, who have had a lot of success in the RHS Britain in Bloom competition, winning many Gold medals over the years!
This amazing bunch of green-fingered volunteers, led by Ann Osborn and Lilian Hindley, keep the village looking lovely – from flowerbeds, troughs, borders and baskets, to verges and village signs. They also run educational activities with Limpsfield CofE Infants School. Last week I went to my first Parish Council Annual Meeting. There was a pretty good turnout at St Peter’s Church Hall for a Thursday evening. Many of you will know that after a decade, much-loved owner of The Bull Inn, Sue Dickens, has decided to move on to pastures and opportunities new. Exciting news is that The Bull is being bought by Enterprising Limpsfield, a local initiative, formed of community-minded individuals, that aims to create a community hub, based at The Bull, to help promote local food and drink and other like-minded, quality local businesses.
