Get involved: Limpsfield in Bloom

Spring has definitely sprung this week and thoughts turn to our gardens and this year’s Britain in Bloom. As ever, our entry into this national competition run by the Royal Horticultural Society is expertly handled by Limpsfield In Bloom, who have had a lot of success in the RHS Britain in Bloom competition, winning many Gold medals over the years!

This amazing bunch of green-fingered volunteers, led by Ann Osborn and Lilian Hindley, keep the village looking lovely – from flowerbeds, troughs, borders and baskets, to verges and village signs. They also run educational activities with Limpsfield CofE Infants School.  They need more volunteers of all ages to help them keep the village looking lovely…

RHS Britain in Bloom, Britain’s nationwide gardening competition has been keeping the country’s towns and cities in bloom since 1963. But it’s more than just a gardening competition. Britain in Bloom helps raise awareness of environmental issues and helps educate people, particularly kids on the importance of maintaining the flora and fauna in their local area.

“For many groups, it’s now a powerful tool for building communities and tackling local issues,” says the RHS.

2018 Colour Scheme

“To celebrate the end of the first World War and women getting the vote, it has been decided that this year’s colour scheme will be purple, green and white for the suffragettes,” says Ann Osborn.
