Hazelwood’s first ever Inter-house Pancake Day Race

Hazelwood School, Limpsfield, ran its first ever Inter-house Pancake Day Race on Tuesday and it was a hugely competitive event with each participant having to complete a lap of a special track, flipping a pancake three times either before, during or at the end of the race. Victory went in the end to Dowling House.

Next Saturday, 4th March 2017, Limpsfield will be filled with the sound of high energy, big band jazz as St Peter’s Hall hosts the popular JetStream Jazz band. Don’t miss: Temples, Tombs and Treasures at Limpsfield Arts Society

Tomorrow, Wednesday (22 February), the Limpsfield Decorative & Fine Arts Society will host renowned archeologist Louise Schofield for a fascinating lecture on temples, tombs and treasures. The former British Museum curator who has carried out many excavations in Ethiopia is also a director of the Tigray Trust.

Flashback Friday: Chart Windmill, Limpsfield Chart

If you’ve ever wondered why there’s a Mill Lane and Mill Cottages on Limpsfield Chart, but were afraid to ask… well, it is the site of the Chart Mill which stood on the Chart until 1925.  According to OckleyWindmill‘s history on Surrey mills, the mill on Limpsfield Chart was built around 1817 and is unique among Surrey’s mills, because it was the only one to have clockwise sweeps…apparently most mills sweep anti-clockwise… Continue reading “Flashback Friday: Chart Windmill, Limpsfield Chart”

Nobody panic: Fancier Dress is staying!

There’s been a lot of talk about Fancier Dress of late, as their shop front has been up for lease. But fear not, Limpsfield’s own Fancier Dress is NOT going anywhere!  It is simply moving its vast array of fabulous fancy dress gear out the back to the barn (entrance down through the big gate on the side of the shop) and another exciting business will be moving into the shop space.
