Meet the Artist – Ian Mowforth at Avalanche Gallery

If you’re a Limpsfield local, you’ll most likely have noticed the incredible animal  paintings in the window of Limpsfield’s Avalanche Gallery. Painted in oils by well-known artist, Ian Mowforth, who will be at the Gallery on October 1st.

Ian Mowforth was born in 1966 in Harworth, Nottinghamshire and went to Doncaster Grammar School, where he discovered his passion for art.

A degree in Painting at Wimbledon School of Art followed in the 80s, then his MA at Brighton university in 1994. Ian has also taught children and adults in some capacity since the 90s.

Ian specialises in painting and drawing animals and flowers.  He paints animals of all shapes and sizes and believes their essence is captured in the eyes and they are truly captivating in all his paintings.

An experimenter with different materials and styles, he’s currently working on a series of Lino cuts of dogs, cats and lizards. These beautiful works of art are the perfect idea for a special gift and Ian can be commissioned to paint your own animals.

On Sunday 1st October from 2pm, Ian Mowforth will be in the gallery to talk about his work. If anyone is interested in commissioning Ian for an animal portrait, you’ll be able to talk to him in person, plus treat yourself to a 2-for-1 voucher for hot drinks in The Perfect Blend that afternoon!
