October brings plenty to look forward to in and around Limpsfield, from a very special anniversary at St Andrew’s Church to music, art, running, Halloween fun and the first signs of Christmas!
Celebrating 130 years of St Andrew’s Church
With its foundation stone laid in 1895, St Andrew’s Church was built in 1896 to serve a growing local community when St Peter’s Church in Limpsfield Village could no longer accommodate everyone. A beautiful Gothic Revival and Arts and Crafts building, it was designed by noted architect Sir Reginald Blomfield and constructed by local builders, Messrs Durtnells of Brasted. A bell tower and shingled spire were added in 1902.

Built from warm buff-coloured local Wealdstone Sandstone, with white stone dressings and tiled roofs, the church sits peacefully among National Trust land on the Surrey/Kent border. Originally serving agricultural workers, Titsey Estate employees and residents of nearby convalescent homes, it remains an important and active part of the local community today.
The celebrations begin with a 130th Anniversary Concert on Saturday 3 October at 7.30pm, featuring a musical journey through the past 130 years, including harpist Margaret Watson. Tickets are £15.
The following morning, Sunday 4 October at 10am, there will be a Harvest Festival followed by a community lunch.

Run, listen, learn and create
On Sunday 11 October, the popular Titsey Trail 10K returns, taking runners across Limpsfield Common and Limpsfield Chart. Organised by Oxted Runners, the race starts and finishes at Limpsfield Chart Golf Club at 10am.
October is also a great month for music. Florence Fest takes place at St Peter’s on Saturday 3 October, celebrating local musical heritage with a family concert at 11am and a formal concert at 5pm. Later in the month, the Oxted & Limpsfield Music Society presents violinist Elena Urioste and pianist Tom Poster at Hazelwood School on Saturday 17 October.
For art lovers, The Arts Society Limpsfield presents Azulejos: Portuguese Tiles on Wednesday 28 October, followed by a special interest morning on Friday 30 October exploring The Art of the Mughal World.
And there’s plenty for younger creatives too, with Art 4 All half-term workshops from 21–29 October, hosted by Kate Tulett Art in Limpsfield Village. Check out her new website too – katetulettart.com.
