As previously posted, Limpsfield Parish Council has been working on a submission to Your Fund Surrey, a huge local fund set up by Surrey County Council to enable local communities and organisations to fund some exciting community-based projects, including The Limpsfield Way, a walking route together with a community cycle route, as part of the implementation of the Limpsfield Neighbourhood Plan.
The LPC has already received 146 ‘thumbs up’ on the initial ‘big idea’ and has now submitted its formal funding application. Over the next 3 weeks they need as much community support as possible and are asking you for your input to ensure the success of the bid.

The more input the bid receives, the more likely its success.

The Limpsfield Way is a circular walk from Limpsfield Chart to Limpsfield with waymark discs and information boards explaining the interesting history of the area and will use existing bridleways and footpaths. There will be a map in both villages, with online directions for download, a QR code for information and feedback, and hard copies of the map.
The route is just over four miles long, with no stiles and limited ascent and includes a shorter route for disabled visitors.
As well as exploring both villages, the route goes through greensand, woodland and open countryside with views of the North Downs and across to west Surrey.
The parish council is planning as a destination a ‘rest and play’ area in a green space in Happy Valley, Limpsfield Common, just south of New Road, where they will add benches and simple natural wooden play equipment for children. This will therefore be suitable for both families and for adults without children, by providing both a great place to play or to just a lovely spot to sit and contemplate.
Please note the below maps are not necessary the final routes. Some adjustments may be made with further consultation.
We also plan an easy access path from the car park in New Road for disabled visitors and families with buggies.
The cycle route will be ‘there and back’ from Limpsfield to Limpsfield Chart and suitable for families. By linking the routes to Oxted and Hurst Green stations, cyclists will not need to take a car on the busy main roads which works with the long-term plan to encourage walking and cycling rather than car use for recreation and business.
In support of local Limpsfield businesses and both routes provide information about refreshment stops (Memorial Stores, The Carpenters Arms, British Legion and The Bull Inn).
