Leaving a legacy of music – Shirley Dunnicliffe, “Mrs D”

On 12 July at St Peter’s Church in Limpsfield Village, we said our official goodbyes to a much loved local music teacher, Shirley Dunnicliffe.

Mrs Dunnicliffe or “Mrs D” taught piano and music at St Michaels and Croydon High as well as teaching countless local Limpsfield children through piano lessons at her home on Saturday mornings.

I was one of those very fortunate children, taking lessons with her from the age of 4 until my mid teens, and she left an indelible mark on my life, inspiring a lifelong love of classical music, but particularly the piano.

Following is a brief overview of her amazing life, with contribution from her daughter, Susan.

Limpsfield Parish Council needs your input for their Your Fund Surrey bid

As previously posted, Limpsfield Parish Council has been working on a submission to Your Fund Surrey, a huge local fund set up by Surrey County Council to enable local communities and organisations to fund some exciting community-based projects, including The Limpsfield Way, a walking route together with a community cycle route, as part of the implementation of the Limpsfield Neighbourhood Plan.

The LPC has already received 146 ‘thumbs up’ on the initial ‘big idea’ and has now submitted its formal funding application. Over the next 3 weeks they need as much community support as possible and are asking you for your input to ensure the success of the bid.

To register your support, please review the bid and leave comments on the dedicated entry on the Your Fund Surrey site here: https://yourfundsurreyproposals.commonplace.is/proposals/the-limpsfield-way

The more input the bid receives, the more likely its success.
