Our fabulous local library, Oxted Library is an officially designated “warm hub” – open Tuesday to Saturday – for anyone who is in need of some warmth, a smile and some company. And from tomorrow, 25 January, until March (at least) they’ll also be running monthly “Warm Up Wednesdays” offering free creative activity and/or advice in a social environment.

Limpsfield resident launches christmas hit!
Former Limpsfield resident, Alex Martin has launched an “instant Christmas classic” on all music platforms today!
Currently living in East Dulwich, Alex Martin, whose family still lives in Limpsfield, grew up in Limpsfield on Trevereux Hill and attended Limpsfield Infants School. After many years of playing around with an idea, he has just launched a new Christmas song through his company Big Bang Films, sung by up-and-coming singer-songwriter, Isla Croll, who featured in the semi finals of The Voice Kids in 2020 and won our hearts with her rendition of Summertime.

With high street banks closing their local branches at an alarming rate (NatWest is due to close in February 2023, which leaves Oxted and Limpsfield with HSBC and the Yorkshire Building Society), it’s no surprise that our post offices, including our local village ones, are feeling the pressure with many people now using them for their everyday banking services.
Limpsfield Memorial Stores and Post Office on Limpsfield High Street, has been run by the community for the benefit of the community since 1999 with minimum paid employees and a reliance on volunteers in both the shop and the Post Office.
They are currently looking for volunteer help in the stores, but particularly in the Post Office. So if you are looking for something interesting and can commit to a minimum of half a day a week, then they’d love to hear from you.

Limpsfield families are being spoilt for outdoor trails at the moment, with the launch of the Parish Council’s Limpsfield Way and now the new Family Activity Trail, a joint project by the National Trust and Friends of Limpsfield Common that provides a waymarked nature trail around Limpsfield’s High Chart.

In April, Limpsfield Parish Council received the first tranche of funding from Surrey County Council’s Your Fund Surrey scheme, and have been very busy creating the new and accessible Limpsfield Way Circular Walk, with the Community Cycle Route to be completed over the summer holidays.

While Covid put paid to many businesses around the country, one phenomenon that is being witnessed throughout the regions is a cautious re-invigoration of our local high streets.
Oxted has seen, and is still seeing quite a turnaround of new businesses, and Limpsfield High Street has also witnessed a rally, with new businesses launching and existing ones coming into their own with some tweaks to their offer.

The weather held and the streets were full for the Limpsfield Village Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Street Party on Sunday 5th June. What an incredible effort everyone went to to produce such an amazing day. The tables were full; party hats and jubilee outfits were donned and the village was bedecked in flags!
