If you love a good walk and even better coffee, there’s a new local gem you’ll want to check out. We stopped by yesterday for a chat (and of course, a coffee) with the lovely ladies behind FIKA Blends & Friends – a brand new vintage horse box café launching this month at the National Trust’s High Chart Car Park on Moorhouse Road, Limpsfield Chart.
Opening on Thursday 17th April from 9am, FIKA is the creation of Limpsfield locals and long-time friends Cathryn and Rachel, who originally met when their children attended Panda Nursery. Sharing a love of coffee and the great outdoors, the pair decided to turn their dream into reality.
“We’ve always gone for long walks in Limpsfield, picking up a coffee in Westerham first, but thought ‘wouldn’t it be great if there were coffees available on the Chart?’” says Cathryn.
After plenty of encouragement from family and friends, a successful tester session, and a crash course in barista skills (and trailer reversing!), the duo decided to go for it. FIKA will offer coffees and teas (with different milk options), along with delicious baked treats from a local baker – including gluten-free options to keep you going on your woodland wander.

The name FIKA comes from the Swedish tradition of taking a break with coffee, snacks and good company – a fitting concept for this cosy, community-focused spot.
“We’re really excited (and a bit nervous – particularly about parking the trailer!)” says Rachel. “We hope everyone will be supportive and understanding as we’re bound to have a few wobbles on our first few outings. The National Trust team have been really helpful and lovely, as have all our family, friends and lots of other locals.”
Sustainability is a big part of the FIKA ethos. They encourage customers to bring their own reusable cups, but for those who forget, they’ll have a supply of recyclable (paper bin) and compostable cups, as well as collapsible reusable cups available to buy. They’re also giving away used coffee grounds for your garden – a great natural fertiliser.
Please remember to dispose of your cups responsibly – either take them home or use the bins provided. Cathryn and Rachel are committed to leaving the site spotless, including doing a litter pick after each session.
FIKA Blends & Friends will be open:
– Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays
– Bank Holiday Mondays
– From 9am to 1pm
You can also catch them at some great local events, including:
– St Mary’s May Fayre – Saturday 10 May (afternoon)
– Chart Fair – Sunday 22 June (12–4pm)
– Dad Fest – East Grinstead, August
So next time you’re heading for a walk on the Chart, don’t forget to stop by for a warm drink, a tasty snack and a friendly chat. We’re sure this little horse box will become a big community favourite.
