Welcome to the summer holidays in Limpsfield!

Summer meadow Limpsfield

There’s so much to do in Limpsfield over the summer holidays to keep everyone in the family occupied… Whether it’s afternoons with a beer and crisps at the cricket, afternoon teas, butterfly counting, nature spotting, nature walks, twilight golf, air raid shelter tours … you won’t be bored!

So make the most of it… get out there, shop in our shops, walk the trails, and finish up at one of our fabulous pubs – The Carpenters, The Bull Inn and Limpsfield Royal British Legion or enjoy at tea and a slice of one of Mary’s legendary cakes at the Titsey Tea Rooms, breakfast or brunch at Coffee @ Kiwi House!

Do the Big Butterfly Count

The Big Butterfly Count is here and starts today, 12the July-4th August.
Similar to the RSBP’s Big Garden Birdwatch, this is a great thing to do to help us understand how our wildlife is doing.

Butterflies are important indicators of the health of our natural environment and there are worrying reports of how few butterflies are around this year.

Just sign up via the website – www.bigbutterflycount.org – or app, choose a place to spot butterflies and moths. Watch for 15 minutes. Then record which species you see on the app or website. It’s really easy and a lovely thing to do over the school summer holidays. 🦋

Get Wildlife Spotting

How well do you know the wildlife in our own lovely area of Limpsfield? How much attention do you pay to your surroundings when out on a walk?
There are so many different species of plants, trees and wildlife on our doorstep, but which ones do you really know…?

Our area of Surrey is lucky to have spectacular heathlands, wildflower meadows, ancient woodland and chalk downland – all bursting with wildlife and summer blooms.

There are some great summer spotter sheets courtesy of the Wildlife Trusts on our Limpsfield Biodiversity Corner page – hop on and download them; go out on a walk and see what you can tick off.

It’s a fun way to do an informal nature trail wit the kids and there are plenty of brilliant areas to go walking – Ridlands Grove, the family activity trail on the High Chart, a mooch around Staffhurst Wood, tiptoe through the wild flower fields behind Trevereux Hill and Caxton Lane and of course explore our lovely Limpsfield Common.

Or if you’re in the village, take a walk down Water Lane to Pitchfont Farm and the Titsey Estate; go see the pond life at Padbrook pond or play on the village green at Stanhopes or explore the Community Orchard and Orchard Trail at Grub Street. There’s so much nature right at your back door.

Beer & Curry at Titsey Tap Room

If you haven’t been up Titsey Hill to the Titsey Taproom yet, you must go! They’re open Thursday to Sunday and every Thursday evening it’s CURRY NIGHT with Curry Squad! Join the team for delicious Indian street food, washed down with Titsey beers – it’s the perfect Thursday evening. 5pm – 9pm

Time for Tea

Every Sunday in August, St Andrew’s Hall on Limpsfield Chart, will be running their Sunday Afternoon Teas from 3-5pm. Just pop over and enjoy a cuppa, a chat and slice or their amazing home made cakes. It’s a great opportunity to meet people from your community. Open to all ages. Well behaved pooches also welcome!

You can also head to the Titsey Estate Gardens followed by tea and cake at Titsey Tearooms – Weds to Sunday throughout the holidays. Mary’s cakes are legendary!

Have that long-awaited coffee & cake, breakfast, brunch or lunch catch-up at Coffee At Kiwi House and a browse around Bey Tree in Wickham’s Courtyard – Thursday to Saturday 10-4pm or Kate Tulett’s studio and art shop.

Cricket, BEER / Cider (or Coca Cola) and Crisps!

There’s always an excuse for a pint of cider, coke and crisps and what perfect way to spend an afternoon in the holidays, watching the Oxted & Limpsfield Cricket Club matches at Grub Street from the British Legion’s terrace?!
You can do the same at the Chart Cricket Club too, helping to keep them going by spending at their bar! Perfect Saturday afternoon.
